Everyone at Her-Place is celebrating after our CEO, Kate Blakemore, was shortlisted in the top three internationally for the “Here Come the Girls” Award at the Inspiring Women Awards.
The award recognises women who are creating change and making an impact both locally and nationally, supporting others and helping to shape a better future for women and girls.
Kate attended the awards ceremony at The Lowry Hotel in Manchester alongside inspiring women from across the UK.
Speaking after the event, Kate said:
“It was truly humbling to attend. I feel very lucky to have such a great job, work with an amazing team, support inspiring women and be in a position where I can amplify women’s voices far and wide.”
As a charity, we are passionate about empowering women, creating opportunities for their voices to be heard and influencing change in our communities.
One of our current projects is the Safe HER campaign, which is helping to make Crewe a safer and more welcoming place for women and girls. Through the campaign, local businesses are receiving training to help them recognise and respond to people who may be vulnerable or in distress, creating a network of safe places across the town.
We are also working with young women and girls to influence the future design of parks and public spaces in Crewe. By listening to their experiences and ideas, we are helping decision-makers understand what makes women and girls feel safe, welcome and included in public spaces.
These projects are just some of the ways Her-Place is helping to amplify women’s voices and ensure they are part of conversations that shape local services and communities.
To be recognised in a national award that celebrates women driving change is a fantastic achievement and a reflection of the impact being made by women, girls, staff, volunteers and partners across our community.
Congratulations, Kate and thank you for continuing to champion women and girls across Cheshire East and beyond.
