A Safe Space for Women: Where Reading Meets Wellbeing

At Her-Place Charitable Trust, we are proud to be launching Stories for HER, a wellbeing pop up event at Crewe Library for Mental Health Awareness Week, designed to support women’s mental health through the power of reading and community.

Taking place on Friday 15th May between 10am-1pm, this relaxed and welcoming session has been created as a safe space for women to pause and take time for themselves. We’ll be sharing a range of books focused on wellbeing, self care, personal growth, grief and healing alongside resources to support women on their individual journeys.

We know that for many, walking into a library or picking up a book can feel unfamiliar or even overwhelming. Stories for HER is about changing that. Whether you haven’t visited a library in years, don’t see yourself as a “reader,” or simply don’t know where to start then this space is for you.

Women attending will have the chance to meet others on their own self healing journeys, share experiences and feel part of a supportive community.

We’ll also be signposting local support services, offering practical resources and providing free wellbeing goodie bags to take away so support doesn’t end when the event does.

Chloe from Her-Place said:
“We created Stories for HER to show that looking after your wellbeing doesn’t have to be complicated. Reading can be a simple, accessible way to take a moment for yourself. Her-Place brings women together in a space where they feel safe, supported and not alone because we know how important connection is.”

This event is part of our wider FlourisHER project, where we aim to create accessible, empowering spaces for women and girls to learn more about their health and wellbeing.

We welcome all women and girls in the community to join us whether you’re looking for support, connection or simply a quiet moment for yourself. No booking is required.

At Her-Place Charitable Trust we understand how powerful reading can be and we are looking forward to opening a feminist bookshop / library at our new women’s centre in Crewe town centre opening this summer!
